Home Sweet Home

Feeling like you don't have an actual home plus trying to nest doesn't exactly work out too well.   But we made it through all this craziness of back and forth and we are here finally living in our new house...a month after closing!  It's been a very busy week...doctor's appointment, started painting the nursery, unpacking, shampooing carpets and pulling up our counter tops to have a granite installed!  Woo hoo except for a little bit of a hiccup.  We had to pull a whole row of back splash off for the granite to properly fit as close to the wall as possible.  So our kitchen is yet to be done, sigh...

When we bought the house we had already decided to spruce up our kitchen a little bit.  The backsplash and the counters were too matchy matchy and they were really dark and drab together, so we wanted to do something lighter to brighten up the kitchen a bit.  I love the original cabinets and the dark cherry wood floors, but the countertops were old anyways and the laminate was peeling off on the sides exposing big black spots, lovely. Here are the counter tops before....

After we popped the countertops off we couldn't fit the stove back in, so I cooked for two days like this haha

Here is a piece of the granite, try not to pay attention to the missing row of backsplash.

They had a deal on sinks too if you purchased a certain amount of granite, so why not, we picked out this HUGE granite composite sink.  I cooked last night and put a dutch oven in the sink and I still had room!  Me likie this sink, a lot! Plus you can put pots and pans up to 400 degrees in there!

This weekend's project- OPERATION GET KITCHEN DONE!  The hubs is going to fix the back splash and we are working on refinishing our kitchen table, can't wait to learn how to distress furniture and share it with all of you, table is compliments of my In-Laws.  I'll report back soon with the final updates of the kitchen! Oh the Woes of being a homeowner.

If you haven't yet, check out Little Mudpies Blog and check out the DIY cupcake tree I made for one of my baby showers...I will be posting about that shower soon. Happy Friday :)
